Not too long-ago Flying Spares was contacted by a renowned British contemporary artist about the possibility of borrowing a Rolls-Royce to use as part of an art installation he had been commissioned to create for Glastonbury 2024. Having previously supplied the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow that featured on the iconic Oasis album ‘Be Here Now’ we were naturally interested, especially as it gives the car a fitting swan song in the spotlight.

Picture this: a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II, but not just any Shadow. It had been transformed by renowned contemporary artist Hayden Kays into a piece of art. The car's exterior is a canvas. The installation presents a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II adorned with hundreds of penalty charge tickets, fitted with a parking clamp and ‘H4YDEN K4Y5’ personalised number plates.

Glastonbury isn’t just about music; it's a melting pot of culture, creativity, and expression. It’s a place where boundaries blur, and new ideas are born. The installation has been a hit with festivalgoers. People were lining up to get a closer look, snap selfies, and soak in the luxe-meets-art vibe. The juxtaposition of muddy wellies and a pristine Rolls-Royce creates a quirky contrast that’s pure Glastonbury.

A Rolls-Royce at Glastonbury 2024 is a bold statement—a blend of tradition and modernity, luxury and grassroots creativity. It’s a reminder that art can be found in the most unexpected places and that even the most established brands can surprise us. So, next time you think of Glastonbury, remember it’s not just a music festival. It’s a place where even a Rolls-Royce can become a canvas for artistic expression.
