Hello,
I have a 1953 RR Silver Dawn with the 4.5L engine. I am planning my restauration project and would like to know if I can technically replace this engine with a 4.9L engine high compression from a S1 or Cloud 1? Does this 4.9L engine fit exactly into the mounting places of the 1953 RR Silver Dawn, as well as to the automatic gearbox that I will have also to exchange.
Thank you very much in advance for these precious informations and kind regards

Good morning, it is possible and has been done to replace your current engine with the 4.9 engine, however, there would have to be an adaption to the following: - Engine Mounting - Possibly adaptor plate between the auto gearbox - Carburettor feed ,(I presume you will go with the Big Bore Carburettor’s) - Carburettor linkage - Exhaust Manifold/System These are the main areas that you will need to consider and there will be other small adaptions to be made to shoe horn the later engine in. Please feel free to call John Creasy who is our Technicial Adviser for any further assistance.
