This is a complete set of pistons (including rings and pins) made for us in the UK by Omega Pistons (www.omegapistons.com).
The pistons are not a replica of the original, but a new design using the best technology available today. They are made from a forged (rather than cast) alloy and incorporate a solid skirt (unlike the original split-skirt design with a modern three ring pack and feature a lighter gudgeon pin.
- Our Omega pistons have been designed and extensively tested using state of the art techniques:
- Design - Mass distribution and proportioning of the crown, improved gudgeon pin bosses and braced skirts
- Material selection - Aerospace grade forging stock giving a lighter but stronger piston
- Heat treatment - Optimised for strength and durability
- Machining - CNC machines used at all stages allowing greater control of tolerances. No need for balancing or matching up of the individual pistons
- Finishing operations - Honing (gudgeon pins and pin boss bores) and a proprietary coating
- Gudgeon pin preparation - much higher specification material used than standard pins, improved CNC machining and optimised heat treatment
- Modern three ring pack with a life expectancy of 100,000 miles
Traditional less-precise piston manufacturing techniques, typical of the period 65 years ago in which the OEM piston was designed, can lead to piston rock which contributes to piston ring and groove wear. This leads to higher oil consumption, increases in gas blow-by and lower cylinder compressions often associated with poor starting. Omega Pistons do not suffer with such issues.
Our research has established that most of the B60 engines have previously been worked on and this usually involved re-facing/decking/skimming of the cylinder block and/or cylinder head, on average by 0.010". Our pistons are 0.010" shorter than original in order to account for this machining which helps maintain the correct compression ratio.

Shipping & Delivery
As an international mail order company, our focus is to get parts to our customers as quickly and economically as possible. Where possible we will try to provide a choice of shipping options.
Our database knows the weight of every part listed on our website. In the majority of cases this allows automatic shipping options for each order to be chosen at the checkout. Unfortunately, penalties will be imposed by all shipping companies if a parcel is particularly large in size compared to its weight, this is commonly known as “voluming out”. This means that sometimes we are unable to accurately quote shipping for orders until we have packed the parcel and confirmed the shipping cost.
Please be aware that import duties and taxes may apply in countries outside of the European Union. All duties and taxes are set by the Customs Authority of the destination country and, as such, we have no control over them. Please note that it will be the responsibility of the customer to pay all duties and taxes.
Our two most commonly used methods of shipment are by the postal service and UPS.
We do, however, hold accounts with most major international couriers so please let us know if you have a preferred courier or if you would like us to ship using an account you hold with a specific courier.
