Rating:
100% of 100
  • Part Number: UE36600-78P
  • Suitable for: 1965 - 1986 (All Silver Shadow & Bentley T models, Silver Spirit & Spur, Mulsanne, Eight)
  • Condition: This is a new aftermarket part

We have recently manufactured this 78C thermostat. We have become increasingly aware of engine problems being caused by engines running too hot. We feel that this is partly caused by the ethanol content of modern fuels but we are definitely seeing an increase in problems related to the bottom half of the engine overheating. We believe that this thermostat, which opens 10 degrees lower than the standard thermostat, may help to alleviate some of these overheating issues. It also contains the safety pellets that will let coolant bypass the thermostat in the event of overheating, preventing damage.

The very early SY models (prior to VIN 2832) were fitted with thermostats that started to open between 79.5C and 83.5C. From 1966 (VIN 2832) an 88C thermostat was fitted which started to open between 85C and 89C. This thermostat is designed to open between 75-79C and to be fully open at 88C. Alongside this we have developed a tool to allow you to test the opening temperature of a thermostat should you wish to do so. If you fit this 78C thermostat please be aware that the engine will run cooler and on later (post 1987 models) this may bring on the Check Engine light.

Please note that these are built to the correct original drawings which allow a full minimum opening travel distance of 9.5mm - unlike other thermostats that we have seen in the marketplace.

Shipping & Delivery

As an international mail order company, our focus is to get parts to our customers as quickly and economically as possible. Where possible we will try to provide a choice of shipping options.

Our database knows the weight of every part listed on our website. In the majority of cases this allows automatic shipping options for each order to be chosen at the checkout. Unfortunately, penalties will be imposed by all shipping companies if a parcel is particularly large in size compared to its weight, this is commonly known as “voluming out”. This means that sometimes we are unable to accurately quote shipping for orders until we have packed the parcel and confirmed the shipping cost.

Please be aware that import duties and taxes may apply in countries outside of the European Union. All duties and taxes are set by the Customs Authority of the destination country and, as such, we have no control over them. Please note that it will be the responsibility of the customer to pay all duties and taxes.

Our two most commonly used methods of shipment are by the postal service and UPS.

We do, however, hold accounts with most major international couriers so please let us know if you have a preferred courier or if you would like us to ship using an account you hold with a specific courier.

Further information (including the ability to track a parcel) is available here:
